Dear WES Parents, Students, and Community,
Welcome to Wewahitchka Elementary School! WES serves students in Pre-K through 6th grades. Our students are smart and enthusiastic learners. In relationship with our parents and community, we support, challenge and prepare our students as they progress in their educational journey. It is our expectation that when our students leave Wewahitchka Elementary School, they are prepared to be successful in middle school, to complete high school, and to be eligible to attend the college of their choice. In addition, we prepare our students to be lifelong learners, and knowledgeable, respectful and responsible members of their community.
Parent engagement: We have a PTO that will hold many functions and fundraisers throughout the year. The proceeds will contribute to the events held at Wewahitchka Elementary School, including honor roll parties and educational field trips. Additionally, our Student Advisory Council meets periodically to collaborate on how to improve WES as a whole. This diverse committee is comprised of various members of our school community, mainly parents.
Technology: Technology is a priority for WES! Every classroom is equipped with a Smartboard, projector, and document camera to bring the world into the classroom, and to enhance and deepen student learning.
Meeting all student needs: We have a fulltime “MTSS intervention” teacher to provide additional help for those students who are one or more grade levels behind their peers.
Afterschool programs on campus: We have two thriving afterschool programs on campus that- collectively- serve over seventy-five (75) students in first through sixth grades. These programs offer and/or include homework help, structured games, enrichment activities such as art and music and computer activities. It is our belief that these programs will assist in building a strong foundation for our children’s future.
I believe the partnership between our families and our school is an important part of our success. Students benefit as parents and guardians are involved in their learning. It is our goal to have consistent communication between home and school and regular opportunities for families to learn about what is happening at school. I am very passionate about collaborating with students, parents, and teachers to help our students achieve their absolute best.
Let’s have a wonderful year!
Ms. Tracy Bowers,
