Parents

Wewahitchka Elementary School Family,

The Wewahitchka Elementary School community is committed to providing children with academic direction and an environment conducive to attaining essential learning skills with cooperation, innovation and discovery; contributing to the student’s ability to make well-reasoned decisions and to become responsible citizens today and in the future.

The academic successes of our students, with the support of our teachers and parents, will place WES on a path toward greatness. We strive to provide the best educational experience possible. Our teachers will teach to the best of their ability every day; guiding your child(ren) on a path that will give him/her the skills necessary for a productive future. The curriculum will be rigorous and the standards will remain high. We cannot afford to lower the bar. Our students must be able to compete with students across the globe. Our students deserve a quality education, and at Wewahitchka Elementary School, he/she will receive it.

I would like to encourage each parent/guardian to stay active in your child’s education. Students must complete all assignments when given and must meet or exceed expectations on assessments to successfully pass a class. Grades are not given. Grades are earned based on the student’s ability to meet standards in a subject. To help parents know how his/her student is performing academically, WES teachers will provide progress reports every four and a half weeks. Please monitor your child’s progress and ask questions if you are not sure of the grades. The Focus Portal is another tool that can be used to monitor your student’s progress. Focus is an online website that allows you to instantly see your child’s attendance record and grades as the teacher enters it. This is a valuable tool, and we hope you will take advantage of it.

With your support, we will continue to develop your child, and prepare him/her for the bright future they were destined to have. On behalf of the faculty and staff of WES, we look forward to working with you and your child(ren)! Please do not hesitate to call or e-mail me, or any of the WES faculty and staff, if you have additional questions. We are here for you!

Respectfully,
Jennifer Guffey
Principal
